The Batura Glacier is one of the largest and longest glaciers in the world, outside the polar region. Situated in Passu village of Gojal Valley (Pakistan), the Batura Glacier is 35 miles long. During the trek, you will trek across lofty mountains, long glacial systems, and lush green pastures. For this reason, the trek to Batura Glacier is said to be a heaven for Alpine trekkers. Strolling through the pastures, you will see some rare and beautiful flora and fauna.
During the Batura Glacier trek, you will come to see and experience the Wakhi community’s indigenous lifestyle. Some of the Wakhis leave modern life behind and venture into the alpine pastures in the Batura and other regions along with their cattle and yaks.
Samina Baig Travels is offering a 16-day itinerary for the Batura Glacier Trek. Your trip will begin the day following your arrival in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Your accommodation, travel, logistics transportation, food, and guide service are covered under this program.
We will drive you on the renowned KKH to arrive at the base camp of Rakaposhi in Nagar district of Gilgit-Baltistan. You will also get mind-boggling views of Diran Peak, Ultar Peak, Passu Peak, and Shispar Peak during the trip. Our actual trek will begin on the 4th day of the trip at Passu village. For the next few days, you will stay in camps and keep trekking, passing the Batura Glacier and arriving at Yashperth.
Our guides porters, and cooks will accompany you throughout the trek. You will also trek to Fatimahal, which is a summer village (pasture) of the Wakhis. From this place, you will get spectacular views of the many peaks in the Batura area. Trek to Yashpert and a walk to Yokopirt are also part of the trek. The trek will finally end after we reach Karimabad Hunza, where you will have a hotel stay.
For the next few days, you will spend leisure time in Hunza and then we’ll move you to Gilgit, from where you will depart for Islamabad and then back home.
