Standing tall in the Karakoram mountain range, K2 is the world’s second highest peak and the highest in the Karakoram range. Climbing K2 is every climber’s ultimate test. Expedition to K2 is far more difficult and dangerous than that to Everest.
K2 is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, near the Pakistan-China border. It is popularly known among the mountaineering community as ‘the savage mountain that tries to kill you.’ During your bid to summit K2, you may come face to face with avalanches, storms, rock falls, extreme and unpredictable weather conditions, and nature’s other wraths. And this is why it is said that K2 brings out the best.
At 8,611m, K2 is around 800 feet shorter than Everest, but the topography is exceptionally challenging. For a successful summit, it is crucial to take advantage of the transitory good weather condition, make quick moves, and take a good route.
