Manglik Sar is a peak situated in the Shimshal Valley, also known as the valley of climbers. Shimshal is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. The 6,050 m high Manglik Sar falls in an area between the Karakoram and Pamir mountain ranges. It was a Pakistani climber named Nazir Sabir who first reached the summit of Manglik Sar in 1988.
Mangliksar is not a difficult mountain. It has a moderate terrain, even though the mountain is snowy. The slopes are vertical and you can climb the mountain within one or two days. It boasts both ascend and descend of 1500m from the base camp. You can climb the peak with the help of Ice axe and cramps.
Manglik Sar peak expedition is best for climbers who want to train themselves for higher climbs. If you have some knowledge and experience of climbing and are in good health, you can successfully summit peak. The good news is that once you are at the summit of Manglik Sar, you can get magnificent views of K2, Mustagh Ranges, and Baraldu Valley.
Samina Baig Travels has 20 days itinerary for this climb. The day following your arrival in Islamabad, we will drive you the Karakoram Highway for the next three days to reach Shimshal. On the way to Shimshal, you will have a day’s stay in Besham and another in Karimabad. You will get ample time to visit different places and landmarks.
Once we reach Shimshal, we’ll embark on a long trek to reach the Manglik Sar base camp. After trekking for 2-3 days, we will finally arrive at the base camp, from where you can climb the peak in a day or two, depending on the weather condition at that time.
