The 6,400m high Sonia Peak is situated in the north of Shimshal Valley in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. Climbing this peak is technical and boasts moderate difficulties. This expedition is for experienced and physically fit climbers who have had already climbed peaks of at least above 6,500m.
Sonia Peak stands high near the Chapchingol Pass in the northern mountains of Shimshal and near the Pakistan-China border at Khunjerab. Sonia Peak is popular for its majestic and beautiful view. It has a pyramid shape and is almost symmetrical on all sides.
Many mountaineers have already climbed Sonia Peak. The best route to climb Sonia Peak is to approach the base camp through the Chapchingol Pass.
Samina Baig Travels is offering 24 days itinerary for Sonia Peak expedition that starts with your arrival in Islamabad. The day following your arrival in Pakistan, we will drive you on the KKH to reach Gilgit city. After staying in Gilgit for a day, we will drive you to Shimshal Valley.
From Shimshal, we will trek for the next several days through mountain passes, summer pastures, glaciers, and lush green valleys to arrive at the Sonia Peak base camp. We will attempt to climb Sonia Peak for the next five days.
